History

The Department of Biology at the Republic of Indonesia Defense University (Universitas Pertahanan RI) was established in 2020 as a core component of the Faculty of Military Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPAM). The department serves as a pillar of the faculty alongside three other academic programs: the Undergraduate Study Program in Chemistry, the Undergraduate Study Program in Physics, and the Undergraduate Study Program in Mathematics.

Since its inception, the Undergraduate Study Program in Biology has demonstrated a consistent commitment to academic excellence and continuous quality improvement. This dedication was formally recognized in 2023 when the program achieved "BAIK" (Good) accreditation from the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Natural Sciences (LAMSAMA), as stipulated by Decree No. 060/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/VII/2023.

Building upon this solid foundation, the program accelerated its advancement through strategic curriculum development and research initiatives. This progress led to the attainment of the highest accreditation status, "UNGGUL" (Excellent), granted by LAMSAMA in 2025, in accordance with Decree No. 007/SK/LAMSAMA/Akred/S/II/2025. This achievement underscores the department's unwavering commitment to providing world-class education and contributing to national resilience through the application of advanced biological sciences and defense-oriented research.
